Functionality of Models
Models for calculating various Performance metrics are implemented as customized Excel spreadsheets and are delivered at the end of an assignment. The models include calculations of:
- System throughput, response times, subsystem utilizations.
The models predict performance levels at different load levels and can be used to determine Scalability.
How much can you trust a model?
The results from models should not be relied upon until the model has been vetted and trust has been established. The limits of the model's capabilities should be well understood. The model should be periodically recalibrated with empirical data.

As the project proceeds, the assumptions behind a model can be made more concrete and the model can be rerun to provide more precise answers. After the models have been delivered, they are for the client to use to investigate various configuration options. Clients may use their staff to enhance and maintain models or engage Quantitecture to enhance and maintain their models.
